It was just another peaceful afternoon in the CUTIS family home. Cutis was playing quietly with his toy blocks when he suddenly heard a loud crash from the kitchen, followed by a strange silence. His little heart skipped a beat.
“Mom?” he called softly, but there was no answer.
Worried, Cutis hurried down the hallway with tiny, trembling steps. As he peeked into the kitchen, his eyes widened in shock. Dishes were shattered on the floor, and Mom was leaning against the counter, holding her side and breathing heavily. She looked pale.
Cutis froze. His young mind couldn’t understand what had just happened. All he knew was that something wasn’t right—something was wrong with Mom.
“Mom, are you okay?” he whispered, his voice quivering.
Mom looked up and forced a smile through the pain. “It’s okay, baby… I just slipped,” she said, trying to stay strong. But her eyes told the truth—she was in pain and scared.
Cutis rushed forward and gently wrapped his arms around her leg. Though small, his presence gave Mom comfort. “Don’t worry, I’ll call Dad!” he said bravely, running to get help.
Within minutes, Dad arrived, scooping Mom into his arms and thanking Cutis for being so brave. They rushed to the hospital, where the doctor confirmed it was a minor injury—nothing life-threatening.
That night, with Mom resting safely in bed and the family gathered around her, Cutis held her hand tightly and whispered again, “I thought I lost you.”
Mom kissed his forehead. “You didn’t. You saved me.”
It was a moment that reminded them all: even the smallest hearts can carry the greatest courage.
